The Visual Arts Programme at Pan African Global Academy is designed to broaden students’ knowledge and appreciation of art in Ghana and West Africa while developing their creativity, technical skills and cultural awareness.
Through subjects such as General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design and Leather Work, students are exposed to the cultural and aesthetic values of Ghanaian arts while developing skills that promote patriotism, national pride, self-esteem and entrepreneurship.
The programme equips students with practical skills and creative abilities that enable them to preserve, promote and contribute to the development of Ghanaian art forms while creating opportunities for self-employment.
By the end of the four-year programme in General Knowledge in Art, students will develop knowledge and understanding of Art History, Art Appreciation and General Art Concepts.
The course covers studies of art from around the world while helping students apply artistic concepts through drawing, lettering and creative expression.
Students will also explore African and Ghanaian art, gaining an appreciation of the cultural significance and historical development of artistic traditions.
The course concludes by equipping students with entrepreneurial skills necessary to become successful artisans and creative professionals.
Graphic Design introduces students to the principles and practices of visual communication and creative design.
Students develop practical skills in lettering, drawing, PaperCraft, typography, book design and communication design.
Throughout the course, students focus on key design processes, creative techniques and problem-solving approaches required for effective visual communication.
Leather Work introduces students to the history, development and practical applications of leather craftsmanship.
Students gain hands-on experiential learning by working with leather materials and creating practical projects using different techniques.
Through this course, students develop craftsmanship, creativity and entrepreneurial skills that can support future careers in art, design and small-scale enterprise.
Economics is a core class that is taken across all disciplines and is studied throughout the four-year programme.
In the first year, students are introduced to basic economic concepts and develop an understanding of demand, including the relationship between price, quantity demanded and other related factors.
Major topics include concepts of economics, scope of economic activity, tools of economic analysis, factors of production, population, business organizations, economic systems and their functions, unemployment and underemployment, and the theory of demand.
During the second year, students study the price theory of supply, prices of factors of production, theory of production, cost theory, theory of the firm, distribution, consumer behaviour and national income.
In the third year, students explore national income, economic growth and development, agriculture, industrialization, stability of income and employment, international trade, economic cooperation, money and banking, and public finance.
In the final year, the curriculum focuses on economic development planning and contemporary economic issues. Students complete the programme with the knowledge required to demonstrate proficiency in Senior High School Economics.
